Clare Jones is a poet and editor. She is the recipient of a Keats-Shelley Award, a Stanley Award for International Research, and an honorable mention for the Poetry Society of America's Lyric Poetry Prize. Her poetry and criticism have appeared in Poetry, Landfall Tauraka, PN Review, Sport, Sweet Mammalian, Cambridge Quarterly, Romanticism, The Chariton Review, and other publications. Her writing has been recognized with fellowships and grants from the Fulbright Program, the New York State Council on the Arts, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts, the Kolaj Institute, and the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She has taught and mentored writers and readers at Cornell University, the Providence Athenaeum, the University of Iowa, and the Nelson Women's Centre. 

 

A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, the University of Iowa Center for the Book, and Queens' College, Cambridge, Clare founded Oort Cloud Editions in 2014 and, in partnership with Story House Ithaca, launched The Writers' Room in 2024. She researches the life and work of the Romantic poet John Clare and serves on the Executive Board of Directors of Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts and Ithaca Literary Limited.
