On Zoom (Virtual)
Clare Jones will host a generative workshop that will offer a chance to writers of all genres to connect both sides of their brains. Together, we will play a few rounds of BOGGLE, to get ideas for topics and words that all share sounds. Then we'll build paragraphs, poems, and other pieces of writing from what we discover together.
Ongoing:
The Writers' Room
The Writers' Room is a drop-in writing group that provides a free and welcoming space for anyone who is working on writing. It is led by Clare Jones and sponsored by Story House Ithaca. The Writers' Room meets every first and third Wednesday from 6–7pm at the Schwarz Jacobson Meeting Room of the Tompkins County Public Library in Ithaca, NY.
Providence Athenaeum Reading Group
The Providence Athenaeum's reading groups offer opportunities for members to try books and authors they have long wanted to read or re-read, in the company of other intellectually curious readers and engaging, encouraging group leaders. Clare has led reading groups focused on Australia, the Arctic Circle, and Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Hospicare Workshops
In 2023, 2025 and 2026, Clare secured funding for and led a series of no-cost writing workshops, book discussions, and two-night retreats for grieving community members of Hospicare in Tompkins County of New York State. Hospicare is a non-profit hospice, which provides medical expertise and compassionate, respectful care to people and their loved ones at any stage of a life-threatening illness, and provides information and education about advanced illness, dying, and bereavement to the communities of Tompkins and Cortland counties.
