Retreats

In 2023, 2025, and 2026, Clare developed and led annual writing retreats in partnership with Hospicare & Palliative Care Services.

The in-person weekend-long retreats offer time and space for community members from all walks of life to process grief and loss through creative practice. Retreats are designed to provide participants with a private space and a quiet environment, free from the distractions of everyday life, where participants can engage in creative activities that they find meaningful. These programs have been made possible in full with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant program from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the office of the Governor and NYS Legislature, administered by the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County.

Editing

As a developmental editor, Clare helps creative and content-driven writers present strong arguments, create and sustain immersive narratives, and polish their voices. Clare works primarily with scholars who want their books to transform conversations and communicate complex ideas to a broad public. Clare reads manuscripts closely, creates plans for revision, and helps authors make improvements at the levels of both line and structure.

Clare has been working in the editorial departments of academic presses since 2012, when she first interned at Wiley-Blackwell. Clare has taught college courses on creative writing, mentored law school applicants, and led literary festival events combining collage, board games, and more. Clare is a omnivorous reader and loves learning from experts in a range of fields while working together to realize their works’ potential.

Clare’s clients have written books that have been published by or are under contract with University of Iowa Press, Yale University Press, Cornell University Press, and University of Kentucky Press.

Training Programs

A national training program focused on building capacity at HBCU libraries and increasing the visibility and reach of HBCU-generated scholarship, led by Brown University Library in partnership with the HBCU Library Alliance and the University of Michigan Press.

Testimonials

7Sage Admissions Client

“[Clare] helped me edit my personal statement. I want to thank [her] for that because I was recently accepted by my top choice law school and received a full tuition scholarship.

The only reason I can think why the school would give me such a large scholarship is because of my personal statement. Without [Clare’s] help I do not think they would have given me a full tuition scholarship."
